Juan (Jason) van der Westhuizen

Jason was born on 28 January 1983 in East London. He relocated to to Cape Town in 1989 at the age of 6 and has since lived in Cape Town.
He was raised by his mother, Adri -and Father Willie and has 3 older brothers.

He attended Tygerberg High School and matriculated in 2001. Jason continued to study Cost and Management Accounting at Unisa for 4 years between 2005 and 2009. During this time an income was generated through couching hockey at Tygerberg High School, DF Malan High School and he got involved with coaching at Maties (Stellenbosch University).
Jason is the proud recipient of a Provincial 1 grading in Hockey umpiring.

Jason is currently employed at Tiger Wheel and Tyre. He joined the team in 2008 as an administrator -and within 2 years moved into a regional role and was the Roving Administrator of the Cape Region until getting another promotion in November 2018. He is currently the Assistant Regional Financial Manager of the Cape Region.

He is married to Minette and both are currently living in Vredekloof, Brackenfell. They don't have any children yet.

Jason is very passionate about sport and loves any outdoor activities. His pastimes includes spending time with friends and enjoying a proper “braai”.
There's no doubt that his hobby is action cricket and he has been playing competitively since the age of 16. He qualified for the WP U/23 side in 2004 and the WP Open side (main side) in 2017 and again in 2019.

The Annual Action Cricket Inter-Provincial Tournament will be held at the Centurion Action Sports Arena in Gauteng from the 23rd Sep until the 29th Sep 2019. Provincial Action Cricket teams from throughout South Africa will be travelling to Pretoria in order to take part in this prestigious event.

The sport of Action Cricket is entirely self-funded and as such Jason approached Vatikaki 4X4 Adventure Club in order to request financial assistance to cover the expenses of approximately R 7 500.00 (seven thousand five hundred rand).
